What’s new Charleston?

You’re probably wondering why a local publication is asking you this question. Well, by now you should know that the word news originated as the plural of new. But what about newsworthy? It started to gain traction in the 1930s.

The problem with newsworthy is not the news but the worthy, since it’s entirely subjective. That’s why we’re taking the different approach of highlighting what’s new and letting readers decide what’s worthy.

So, what’s new with you? Think about the last time a friend asked you that question and you had an answer. A new gig, a new place, a new car, a new status, a new side hustle you’ve been working on. That’s the test. If you’d share it with a friend, share it with us.

Some people share more, some less. Here’s what we like to hear about: new in town, newlyweds, newly retired, new business, new tattoo, new headshot, new art, new on the menu, new homeowner, new job, new friend, new chapter.

If it’s new to you, it’s news to us.
