Hutto Seafood Kitchen opens third location
Hutto Seafood Kitchen, which was ranked #36 in Yelp’s Top 100 Seafood Spots of 2024, has opened a new location in Mount Pleasant serving fried seafood and seafood boils. Check out their menu here. Other locations include Orangeburg and Irmo.

In a Facebook post, the West Ashley restaurant said it was closing after 16 years.

Kitchenware store The Coastal Cupboard is expanding next door and doubling its size. The store first opened in 2005 and the expanded space should be open early this year.
Days Inn in Mount Pleasant closes
The 131-room Days Inn at the base of the Ravenel Bridge has closed after being sold to St. Louis-based Drury Development Corp. for $14 million in early January. The future plans for the property are unclear. [Post and Courier].
Pitt Street Bridge set to close until May
The Pitt Street Bridge will close on Monday until at least early May for the construction of a series of additions and improvements to the park. The project will improve safety through the clear delineation between motorized and non-motorized uses along Pitt Street from Schweers Lane to the Pitt Street Bridge Park entrance.
Pickleball Kingdom to open soon in Mount Pleasant
The indoor pickleball franchise is getting ready to open its new location in Belle Hall. The space will have 9 courts.
Dog & Duck Park West to reopen soon
The bar hopes to reopen in Park West the end of January or early February, after submitting building permits to the Town of Mount Pleasant. Dog & Duck is also preparing to open its fifth location at 430 Cross Park Lane in Nexton. The new location is expected to open in November 2025.
Community Crafthouse to open second location
The craft beer spot is opening its second location in spring 2025 in Mount Pleasant.
Coming soon
The Trader Joe’s shopping center that's connected to Towne Centre will get two new retail stores – discount furniture store Homesense and golf clothing and equipment store Golf Galaxy. Both stores will come online sometime in the first half of 2025. [Post and Courier].
Roundabout project moving forward at Mount Pleasant
Town leaders are taking the next steps in installing a roundabout at the intersection of Park West Boulevard and Stockdale Street. The construction, which will cost around $9M, is set to begin in Spring 2026. The project also includes the construction of about 2.5 miles of multi-use paths along parts of Park West Boulevard, Park Avenue and Carolina Park Boulevard, which is part of the Mount Pleasant Way project.
New decor brand in Mount Pleasant
Home decor brand The Wren has opened its first physical location at 903 Houston Northcutt Blvd, Mount Pleasant. The retail space is associated with Wynsum Antiques & Interiors.
New cooking school coming to Mount Pleasant
A new cooking school is coming to Mount Pleasant and it will be located next to Beacon Community Bank on Hwy 17 N across from Boone Hall Farms. The cooking school will be open to the public for one off or multiple classes, and it will also serve as a place for people to start their own food businesses. This will be the third location for chef Jake Rothschild, who now lives in Mount Pleasant.
The Fresh Market now hiring in Mount Pleasant
Upscale grocery store brand The Fresh Market has posted several new jobs for its upcoming store in Mount Pleasant at 1118 Bowman Road. Earlier this year it was reported that the store will open in 2025. The chain has nine grocery stores in South Carolina in Aiken, Columbia, Greenville, Hilton Head, Myrtle Beach, Pawleys Island, and Spartanburg.

Grimaldi’s Pizzeria has launched a new line of pasta sauces – marinara, tomato basil, and arrabbiata. A 24 oz jar goes for $12.99 and you can buy online or at the restaurant.
The Crazy Mason Milkshake Bar is closing
In a Facebook post, The Crazy Mason Milkshake Bar in Mount Pleasant announced it is closing after three years, with November 30th being the last day. The store was opened by Charleston couples Matt and Heidi Oates, and Lisa and Gary Gremillion.

The U.S. Department of Energy awarded Mount Pleasant over $142,000 for four-foot-wide bike lanes. The town is planning to add these lanes along Coleman Boulevard between Garland Road and Bayview Drive. This will connect the corridor to the existing bike lanes.
🍝 New Italian restaurant just opened
The owners of Migliori’s Pizzeria have opened Abbracci Italian Cuisine & Cocktails at 1146 Muhlenbergia Drive in north Mount Pleasant. Bar opens at 4 pm and full dinner service starts at 5 pm Wed-Sun.
