Cuoco Pazzo is relocating to Oakland Market
The Italian restaurant is relocating from Fairmount Shopping Center to 1181 Oakland Market Road after RCB Development bought the property and tripled rent from $4,800 to nearly $16,000. Owner Davide Davino secured the new space for just over $12,600 monthly, with a larger patio and kitchen. The current location closes July 31; the new one opens around August 1. [Post and Courier]
Nantucket’s Meat and Fish Market is coming to Mount Pleasant
The family-owned business headquartered in Nantucket, Mass., with outposts in Hilton Head and Martha's Vineyard, plans to open at 616 Coleman Blvd. in Moultrie Plaza. The market recently applied for a liquor license and will replace the Village Emporium, which moved to 612 Coleman Blvd. in February.
Mount Pleasant explores redeveloping port-adjacent Long Point Road
Mount Pleasant is studying whether the Long Point Road corridor between the I-526 interchange and the Wando River could be redeveloped into a district for creative and professional industries. The RFP closed May 4 with two firms interested. The area currently houses warehouses, retail, breweries, schools and neighborhoods. The study comes as a $350 million project to build a new I-526 off-ramp for port-related traffic, aimed at easing congestion on the expressway connecting West Ashley to Mount Pleasant, approaches a projected 2027 construction start.
Steel City Pizza Co. to open next week
The pizza place will open its Mount Pleasant location at 401 Faison Road (Carolina Park) on April 23. Steel City has two other locations – in North Charleston and Summerville.
Dutch Bros Coffee opens in Mount Pleasant
The coffee chain has opened a drive-thru at 1173 Highway 41 in Mount Pleasant, taking over and remodeling the former Clutch Coffee Bar. The Oregon-based company, which operates more than 1,000 locations in 25 states, entered South Carolina last summer and has been expanding rapidly across the state, with another Charleston-area location planned at 3678 Ladson Road.
Residence Inn hotel opens
Mount Pleasant's first new hotel in five years, a 100-room Residence Inn by Marriott, has opened in the Ferry Wharf development near Patriots Point. Developed by Bennett Hospitality, it features suites with full kitchens, an outdoor pool, fitness center, and an on-site restaurant called The Cleat. It's part of a 20-year master plan that includes three more luxury hotels, with the first phase of the company's Patriots Annex development – The Sefair Hotel – expected to break ground later this year.
Bloom & Bean Flower Cafe opens tomorrow
The floral-inspired coffee shop is set to open tomorrow at 1421 Shucker Cir, Suite 1122, Mount Pleasant.
El Milagro opens
The Mexican restaurant that took over Mex 1’s Park West location, has officially opened. The new spot is located at 1109 Park W Blvd, Mount Pleasant, in the Publix shopping center.
Mount Pleasant breaks ground on Gary Santos Park
Located along Rifle Range Road and Vaughn Ed Kee Parkway, the park is named in honor of former Town Council member Gary Santos, who served nearly 30 years and championed youth athletics and recreation. The park will include a two-court gymnasium, program rooms for music, art, dance, and camps, three and a half lighted rectangular athletic fields, tennis and pickleball courts, picnic pavilions, a playground, maintenance facilities, and trails connecting to the Mount Pleasant Way trail system.
Annie’s Hot Donuts is closing
In a Facebook post, the Mount Pleasant donut shop announced that due to the landlord selling the building, it will close on March 22 after 8 years in business.
LongHorn is bringing back lamb chops
The restaurant chain announced that their lamb chops, served over mashed potatoes and wilted spinach, will be back on the menu on March 2nd. LongHorn has locations in Mount Pleasant and North Charleston.
Paris Baguette officially opens
The bakery and cafe has officially opened at 656 Long Point Road in Mount Pleasant. This is the first Paris Baguette in the Charleston area. The location serves cakes, sandwiches, pastries, and coffee.
Sephora to open 3rd standalone store
Sephora is scheduled to open its 3rd standalone store in the Charleston area. The store will open in mid-March in Mount Pleasant between T.J. Maxx and Crumbl (1500 Hwy 17, Ste 20, Mount Pleasant).
Golf Galaxy opens in Mount Pleasant
The specialty chain owned by Dick's Sporting Goods has officially opened in Mount Pleasant at 1909 N. Highway 17 (near Trader Joe's). The 20,000-square-foot location is equipped with simulators and hitting bays, and the store also offers lessons and custom club fittings.
New bar coming to Mount Pleasant
DECOY, a new bar from the team behind Dog & Duck, will open in mid-February at the corner of Highway 41 and Highway 17, in the space formerly occupied by The Basement. The new spot is designed for adults ages 21 and older.
New pizza spot coming to Mount Pleasant
The owners of Millers All Day, Nathan Thurston and Greg Johnsman, will open Jimmy Rosso in summer 2026 at 2700 N Highway 17 in Mount Pleasant (the entrance of Brickyard Plantation). The full-service restaurant will specialize in Brooklyn-style, thin-crust pizza using a New York WaterMaker system to replicate NYC’s water profile. The menu will feature classic toppings alongside Southern grains from Johnsman’s Marsh Hen Mill, such as Jimmy Red corn and benne seeds.
Steel City Pizza has a new spot in Mount Pleasant
The pizza joint founded by Pittsburgh natives Adam Carb and Mark Gray, has closed its location at 1440 Ben Sawyer Blvd as it plans to reopen at 401 Faison Road this month. Steel City Pizza has two other locations in North Charleston and Summerville.
Wendy’s closes Chuck Dawley location
The Mount Pleasant location at Sea Island Shopping Center has closed after 40 years of operation. The 2,500-square-foot restaurant, which opened in 1986 as the 13th Charleston-area Wendy's, occupied an outbuilding near Ben Sawyer and Chuck Dawley boulevards. The closing leaves two Wendy’s in town – 596 Long Point Road and 361 Johnnie Dodds Blvd.
The Pass opens in Mount Pleasant
The Charleston sandwich shop has officially opened its second location at 976 Houston Northcutt Blvd. The Pass is open Mon-Sat from 10 AM to 6 PM.
Paris Baguette to open soon in Mount Pleasant
International bakery and café franchise Paris Baguette is coming to the Belle Hall Shopping Center in Mount Pleasant. The store will open at 656-G Long Point Road and serve pastries, cakes, breads, coffee, sandwiches and other French-inspired items.
