Stuckey Furniture in Mount Pleasant is closing
Center Oak Plaza, the shopping center on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard that includes Stuckey Furniture, has been sold for $11M to an affiliate of Woodlock Capital. With the acquisition, Stuckey, the anchor tenant, will wind down operations and sell remaining inventory. [Post and Courier]

Mount Pleasant Mayor Will Haynie will serve a third term after beating Curt Thomas. According to the unofficial results, Haynie received 60% of the votes.
Mi Xao @ Munkle
Charleston brewery Munkle Brewing Company announced a partnership with Mount Pleasant restaurant Mi Xao. After doing several pop-ups, brewery guests will now be able to enjoy Vietnamese food Tuesday through Saturday every week.
Saltwater Cowboys launches The Wagon
The Mount Pleasant restaurant is introducing The Wagon, a food truck that will serve menu items in a grab-and-go setting. The Wagon will be permanently parked in the restaurant's Shem Creek lot at 130 Mill St. The truck will be open daily from 11 AM and orders can be placed here or through Uber Eats, Grubhub and Door Dash.
All-you-can-eat
Starting today, Tsunami Japanese Restaurant in Mount Pleasant is introducing all-you-can-eat, all day long. The new deal for adults is $28.99 per person and includes sushi.
New 🍕on the menu
Starting tomorrow afternoon, Bohemian Bull in Mount Pleasant will be soft opening their new Pizza menu. The restaurant spent two months working out its hand tossed dough, house made sauce and wood fired pizza oven.

Iggy’s new 🍕 pilot
Iggy's Pizza Shop in Mount Pleasant will offer a limited quantity (25) of partially baked (2/3) pizzas customers can pick up and finish baking at home. The pizzas are available for pickup today and tomorrow.

LoLA Mount Pleasant, the restaurant offering Louisiana- and New Orleans-style dishes, has a new menu item: Blackened Salmon BLT on a toasted baguette with sundried tomato aioli.
Construction Resources is coming to Mount Pleasant
Home-improvement chain Construction Resources will open in Spring 2026 in The Shoppes at Seaside Farms. The company will bring together ten product categories under one roof—from appliances, cabinets, countertops, and decorative plumbing, to fireplaces, lighting, garage doors, outdoor living, shower doors & mirrors, and tile & flooring. In addition, the CR Design Center will launch a store-in-store concept integrating the Opustone Stone & Tile Concepts brand across 12,000 SF of the 45,000 square foot space.

Philosophia to open second location
The Greek Mount Pleasant restaurant is set to open its second location in the Point Hope area in early 2026. Co-owners Dimitri Hatgidimitriou and Justin Hunt also own another Mount Pleasant restaurant – Taverna.
Zaxby’s is coming to Mount Pleasant
According to Town Council Member Daniel Brownstein, the fried chicken chain is planning to open a location in Mount Pleasant. On August 27, the town's Design Review Board will examine preliminary plans for the new location at 3294 N. Highway 17 near Park West.
Crumbl has a Dubai chocolate brownie
Crumbl is now offering a brownie based on the viral Dubai chocolate. The brownie has a crunchy Kataifi and pistachio filling topped with a layer of milk chocolate and drizzled with pistachio cream. The brownie, which is available between Aug 18-23, can be found at the Mount Pleasant store. We gave it a try and it is a good brownie.

Mount Pleasant's Spoon and Cake, located at 1956 Long Grove Dr near Target, has a new mini red velvet cake. The bakery, which had its soft opening in April, offers cakes, pastries, desserts, and breads.
Mount Pleasant won’t move forward with Towne Centre redevelopment plan
The Town of Mount Pleasant denied a redevelopment plan that would have added hundreds of housing, apartment and office units at Towne Centre. The council denied the project with a 7-1 vote. [WCBD].

The Mount Pleasant Police Department shared a video showing a lightning strike in Highway 17. The strike caused power outages and traffic delays, but no one was injured and Dominion Energy restored power and removed the downed wires.
Melvin’s BBQ to temporarily close
The Mount Pleasant location will be closed from Aug. 11-16 for some updates and renovations. The location in James Island remains open.

Aldi's second Mount Pleasant location has officially opened today at 3153 N Highway 17.
Buffalo Wild Wings will open on Thursday
Buffalo Wild Wings will open on July 17 in the former Outback Steakhouse space on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard. It’s the fourth Charleston-area franchise for the national chain and seventh in South Carolina.
The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on the opening day.
