The fast-food chain will open its first Lowcountry location on July 20 at 2280 Ashley Phosphate Road, just off I-26 near Northwoods Mall. The restaurant is operated out of bright orange modular shipping containers.

New restaurant to take over Dashi space

Mark Bolchoz, chef and owner of Cane Pazzo in Hanahan, is bringing a new concept to the former home of the Asian and Latin fusion spot in North Charleston, which closed on June 14. The neighborhood restaurant will debut later this year and draw inspiration from pubs in Ireland’s small surf towns.

New Costco location

Costco filed a plan with S.C. Department of Environmental Services for its third Charleston-area store: a 181,000-square-foot building and 32-pump gas station on 25 acres at 9000 Blue House Road in North Charleston’s Ingleside development.

Dashi closes

The North Charleston Asian and Latin fusion restaurant on Remount Road, has permanently closed. Co-owned by Hines and chef Stephen Thompson, Dashi operated as a food truck for five years before opening its brick-and-mortar location in 2019. The Dashi Wine Bar and Emporium on Rivers Avenue, which opened last summer, will remain open.

The CODfather has closed

After announcing plans to close earlier in the year, the North Charleston fish and chips spot has closed after 13 years. Owner Adam Randall said in a Facebook post that he accepted an offer last week and a decision has been made not to reopen the restaurant.

Coming soon to Tanger Outlets

Tanger Outlets in North Charleston is adding several new tenants in 2026. Abercrombie & Fitch (7,000 sq ft, near Kay Jewelers), Simply Southern (4,500 sq ft, next to The Gap), and Swarovski (1,400 sq ft, near Sunglass Hut) are all opening this summer, with Swarovski arriving in the next few weeks. Palmetto Clayground will open a 2,300-square-foot ceramics, canvas and glass art studio, and Spring Step, a European-inspired footwear brand, will debut in a 2,400-square-foot store in May. Shake Shack is under construction in a 3,500-square-foot space near Palmetto Moon and is slated to open in 2027, while First National Bank will take a parking lot outparcel in 2028. The additions follow 2025 openings including lululemon, Auntie Anne's|Jamba Juice and The Children's Place, along with a new playground.

New rooftop restaurant is coming to North Charleston

Indigo Road Hospitality Group will open Riva Mare later this year atop Storehouse Nine at Navy Yard Charleston, the 85-acre redevelopment of the former Charleston Naval Base along the Cooper River. The mostly outdoor, waterfront Italian restaurant will focus on local seafood – crudos, whole roasted fish, and wood-fired dishes – diverging from Indigo Road's existing Italian concept, Indaco. A culinary team and opening timeline will be announced later.

Maya Del Sol Kitchen is now open

The Mexican restaurant owned by Raul Sanchez has opened at 3225 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston. Sanchez, who has cooked in the Charleston area for over 15 years, relocated from his previous spot near the former Charleston Naval Base. The restaurant serves tacos, burritos, and daily specials for lunch (Wed–Sat), a five-course chef's tasting menu for dinner (Thu–Sat), and brunch on Sundays. The tasting menus draw on Sanchez's time at R. Kitchen and feature dishes beyond traditional Mexican fare, including Indian and Chinese specialty nights.

Katsubō announces new menu

The North Charleston restaurant known for ramen and friend chicken, is introducing a refreshed menu for the warmer weather. Highlights include the Classic Bao Bun – featuring chicken or pork chashu, pickled cucumber, scallion, and kosho mayo, and the Katsubo Don – a rice bowl with tenkasu, spicy pickles, ginger, scallion, kosho mayo, nori goma, fried shallots and a choice of protein. Katsubō also announced that they will be accepting reservations through Resy starting April 1.

Medici’s Italian Ristorante is closing

The North Charleston restaurant, which opened in November 2024, announced it will close on Sunday, March 15th. In the Facebook post announcing the closure, the restaurant mentioned the sudden passing of one of its owners.

Silk Road Bakery has a new dessert

Silk Road Bakery is stocking their Grab and Go refrigerator at Mixson Kitchen with trompe-l'œil desserts – pastries sculpted and finished to look like the fruit they're flavored with. The first version is raspberry and the bakery plans to roll out a new flavor every week. Mixson Kitchen is located at 4831 Mixson Ave Suite 101, North Charleston.

The North Charleston fish and chips spot will close after a decade. The restaurant isn't closing due to a lack of business – owner Adam Randall has decided to step away from the restaurant industry. The business is in the process of selling its lease and fixtures and once the sale is complete, the final date of service will be announced.

After 11 years, The Brew Cellar in North Charleston is closing. The beer shop shared in an Instagram post that it has fallen victim to the high cost of South Carolina’s mandatory liability insurance. The place will be open until February 17th or when inventory runs out.
