Breeze Airways will launch a seasonal nonstop route between Charleston International Airport and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., starting July 2, with flights three times a week and fares beginning at $49 one way. Fort Lauderdale becomes Breeze's 28th nonstop destination from Charleston, joining Spirit Airlines and JetBlue, which also serve the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport route from CHS.

Roxa Dessert Bar to open in Hanahan

Roxa Dessert Bar, a 16-seat dessert-focused concept from chef Heather Hutton, is targeting a late February opening at 1296 Yeamans Hall Road in the same strip center as Cane Pazzo. Hutton, who previously led pastry programs at Edmund's Oast and Honeysuckle Rose, launched Roxa as a pop-up before securing the small retail space. The bar will offer a la carte service Wednesday through Saturday and a six-course tasting menu on Sundays, along with wine, dessert cocktails and nonalcoholic drinks. Hours will be 5–10 pm Wednesday–Thursday, 5–11 pm Friday–Saturday, and 4–10 pm Sunday, with reservations available through Resy.

Folly Beach Town Council to review short-term rental cap

Three years after Folly Beach introduced its short-term rental cap, Mayor Chris Bizzell says the city is reviewing the law as part of its 2026 strategic plan. The goal is to address loopholes and unanswered questions from the original draft. The cap, adopted by voters in February 2023, limits short-term rentals to 800 second homes. At the time of the vote, 1,125 rental properties accounted for 43% of housing stock. About 200 entries remain on the waiting list.
