Steel City Pizza Co. to open next week
The pizza place will open its Mount Pleasant location at 401 Faison Road (Carolina Park) on April 23. Steel City has two other locations – in North Charleston and Summerville.
Dutch Bros Coffee opens in Mount Pleasant
The coffee chain has opened a drive-thru at 1173 Highway 41 in Mount Pleasant, taking over and remodeling the former Clutch Coffee Bar. The Oregon-based company, which operates more than 1,000 locations in 25 states, entered South Carolina last summer and has been expanding rapidly across the state, with another Charleston-area location planned at 3678 Ladson Road.
V Modern opens today
The new Italian restaurant from European-based Fast Fine Restaurant Group, is opening today at 465 Meeting St., Suite 120 in downtown Charleston. The restaurant group, founded in 2017, operates venues across Sweden, Belgium, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, and brought its first U.S. location to Nashville last spring.
Bloom & Bean Flower Cafe opens tomorrow
The floral-inspired coffee shop is set to open tomorrow at 1421 Shucker Cir, Suite 1122, Mount Pleasant.
New rooftop restaurant is coming to North Charleston
Indigo Road Hospitality Group will open Riva Mare later this year atop Storehouse Nine at Navy Yard Charleston, the 85-acre redevelopment of the former Charleston Naval Base along the Cooper River. The mostly outdoor, waterfront Italian restaurant will focus on local seafood – crudos, whole roasted fish, and wood-fired dishes – diverging from Indigo Road's existing Italian concept, Indaco. A culinary team and opening timeline will be announced later.
Pubfare is back
After nearly five years since their last pop-up, the food truck will serve burgers and fries tomorrow from 12-6pm at Westbrook Brewing.
Epic Hospitality to open new restaurant in Charleston
Lou Lou's Tavern on the Tracks is opening this spring at The Refinery development at 1640 Meeting Street Road, joining The Whale craft beer bar near the open-air music venue. The restaurant is owned by Dave and Chrissy Lorenz of Epic Hospitality, the couple behind Islander 71 and Mex 1 Coastal Cantina. Taking over the former Cleats space, Lou Lou's will offer a small-plates menu with vegetables, seafood, and land-based options including burgers, along with curated cocktails, kegged wine, and local craft beer. The concept is built around The Refinery's concert schedule, with ticket holders able to book dinner tables and move between the venue and restaurant. Weekends will feature a kid-friendly brunch and lunch. An opening date and full menu are expected in the coming weeks.
Maya Del Sol Kitchen is now open
The Mexican restaurant owned by Raul Sanchez has opened at 3225 Rivers Ave. in North Charleston. Sanchez, who has cooked in the Charleston area for over 15 years, relocated from his previous spot near the former Charleston Naval Base. The restaurant serves tacos, burritos, and daily specials for lunch (Wed–Sat), a five-course chef's tasting menu for dinner (Thu–Sat), and brunch on Sundays. The tasting menus draw on Sanchez's time at R. Kitchen and feature dishes beyond traditional Mexican fare, including Indian and Chinese specialty nights.
Katsubō announces new menu
The North Charleston restaurant known for ramen and friend chicken, is introducing a refreshed menu for the warmer weather. Highlights include the Classic Bao Bun – featuring chicken or pork chashu, pickled cucumber, scallion, and kosho mayo, and the Katsubo Don – a rice bowl with tenkasu, spicy pickles, ginger, scallion, kosho mayo, nori goma, fried shallots and a choice of protein. Katsubō also announced that they will be accepting reservations through Resy starting April 1.
Autentico NY Pizza Company officially opens
The NY style pizza place serving pies and slices has officially opened in the Big Lots shopping center at 10150 Dorchester Rd. The Summerville spot is open Tuesday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Friday and Saturday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and Sunday from noon to 8:00 PM.
El Milagro opens
The Mexican restaurant that took over Mex 1’s Park West location, has officially opened. The new spot is located at 1109 Park W Blvd, Mount Pleasant, in the Publix shopping center.
Annie Mae’s announces soft opening
The bakery at 185 Saint Philip Street will be open today, tomorrow, and Sunday from 8AM-2PM. The new establishment, which specializes in Southern savory and sweet treats, is owned by Annie and Jason Vieira, who have been selling breads and desserts in a commissary kitchen to Charleston restaurants for the last ~2 years.
The Rustic Muffin has a new menu item
The Summerville coffee shop is now offering the cruffin – a croissant-style muffin filled with pastry cream and raspberry jam, topped with powdered sugar. Manytown recently covered the new owners.
Prophet Coffee to close downtown location
The coffee shop will close its downtown location at 194 Jackson St. in mid-late April, less than six months after opening. The owners, who debuted the cafe in October 2025, said the East Side spot didn't pan out the way they hoped. Their original Park Circle location at 4427 Spruill Ave. in North Charleston remains open. The downtown shop will operate limited hours (8 a.m.-1 p.m., Wednesday-Sunday) until it closes.
Medici’s Italian Ristorante is closing
The North Charleston restaurant, which opened in November 2024, announced it will close on Sunday, March 15th. In the Facebook post announcing the closure, the restaurant mentioned the sudden passing of one of its owners.

Eleven Madison Park’s Daniel Humm switches to à la carte at Charleston Place
Daniel Humm, the three-Michelin-star chef behind Eleven Madison Park, is switching from a four-course tasting menu to an à la carte format at his Charleston Place residency, which opened last October in the former Charleston Grill space. Humm says the shift, launching March 4, lets his team better respond to seasonal local ingredients and makes the experience more accessible, whether guests want a few dishes or a longer meal. The new menu features items like a lobster roll, foie gras torchon, bibb lettuce salad, and "The Humm Dog" – an upscale hot dog with bacon, Gruyère, and celery-truffle relish. Reservations are available on Resy.
LongHorn is bringing back lamb chops
The restaurant chain announced that their lamb chops, served over mashed potatoes and wilted spinach, will be back on the menu on March 2nd. LongHorn has locations in Mount Pleasant and North Charleston.
Bareo is now open
Bareo, a Filipino-Japanese restaurant owned by the owners of Kultura, is officially open. The new spot specializes in dumplings and kakigori, a shaved ice dessert.
Joyland closes
About a year after it opened in downtown Charleston, the burger joint by chef Sean Brock has closed. Joyland has 3 other locations in Nashville and Birmingham, AL.
