Opening next month
The Wedge, a New York deli and market, is preparing for their grand opening on Saturday, October 4th. Located at 2487 Ashley River Rd, Unit 2, The Wedge will operate from 8 AM to 2 PM, Wednesday through Sunday to start. Their food truck will continue running alongside the new location.
Philosophia to open second location
The Greek Mount Pleasant restaurant is set to open its second location in the Point Hope area in early 2026. Co-owners Dimitri Hatgidimitriou and Justin Hunt also own another Mount Pleasant restaurant – Taverna.
Zaxby’s is coming to Mount Pleasant
According to Town Council Member Daniel Brownstein, the fried chicken chain is planning to open a location in Mount Pleasant. On August 27, the town's Design Review Board will examine preliminary plans for the new location at 3294 N. Highway 17 near Park West.
Cleats is closing
The sports bar and restaurant on Meeting street will close its doors at the end of the month. [Post and Courier]
Shake Shack is coming to South Carolina
The burger chain will open its first location in the state in Tanger Outlets in North Charleston. The opening date is not yet available. [Post and Courier]
Melvin’s BBQ to temporarily close
The Mount Pleasant location will be closed from Aug. 11-16 for some updates and renovations. The location in James Island remains open.
Sermet’s Courtyard is closing
The restaurant, which served the Daniel Island area since 2011, will close on August 20. A new spot by the owners of Nick's German Kitchen called Vinea Courtyard Kitchen, is set to open in the same location in September.
Timber Pizza Co. officially opens
The pizzeria, which started in 2014 and was named Pizzeria of the Year by Bon Appétit magazine in 2017, officially opened in downtown Charleston. The spot, which is located at 741 Meeting Street Suite 102, can seat 34 indoors and 16 outdoors.
Montreux Bar and Grill announces new owner
After 16 and a half years, the Summerville restaurant has been sold to Page's Okra Grill, which will take over on August 4th with plans to reopen later that week.
Snow Monkeys opens
The Japanese-French fusion restaurant is now open at 3297 Maybank Highway, a space previously occupied by Bar Copa. Check out the menu here.
Kultura is relocating
Filipino restaurant Kultura is relocating from its original location at 73 Spring Street to a new space at 267 Rutledge Avenue, previously occupied by Chasing Sage. The new location will offer more space and a proper kitchen. The owners are planning to open the new space in October.
Buffalo Wild Wings will open on Thursday
Buffalo Wild Wings will open on July 17 in the former Outback Steakhouse space on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard. It’s the fourth Charleston-area franchise for the national chain and seventh in South Carolina.
The Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on the opening day.

Rivayat to open in Charleston
Indian restaurant Rivayat is set to open in downtown Charleston later this summer, bringing together Charleston seafood and Indian spices. The restaurant, which is owned by the owners of Spice Palette, is taking over the space previously occupied by Malaysian restaurant Makan at 210 Rutledge Ave.
Hutto Seafood Kitchen opens third location
Hutto Seafood Kitchen, which was ranked #36 in Yelp’s Top 100 Seafood Spots of 2024, has opened a new location in Mount Pleasant serving fried seafood and seafood boils. Check out their menu here. Other locations include Orangeburg and Irmo.
New Israeli restaurant to open in West Ashley
Mazal, which means luck in Hebrew, is set to open at 1901 Ashley River Road, previously occupied by The Crab Shack. The new spot, which will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, will serve falafel, shawarma, and kebabs.
NYC’s Prince Street Pizza to open in Charleston
The famous Sicilian-style pizzeria will open in the fall in the former Tasty Thai & Sushi space at 350 King Street. Prince Street Pizza opened its doors in 2012 in NYC and it currently has 15 locations in NYC, California, Las Vegas, Chicago, Miami, and Toronto.
YoBo Cantina to close
The Mexican-inspired West Ashley restaurant will serve its last customers on Feb. 13.
Joyland to open on Friday
Chef Sean Brock, who is behind Joyland and its viral crustburger, announced the official opening of the third location in 145 Calhoun St. Charleston. The new spot will open on Friday.
