Fuel Cantina, a former gas station turned restaurant at 211 Rutledge Ave. serving Caribbean-inspired food, is closing after more than 15 years. Final day of service will be Saturday, December 20.
Heavy’s to open 3rd location
The smashburger restaurant will open its third location in Isle of Palms at 1012 Ocean Blvd., a space previously occupied by Papi’s Taqueria, which closed last month. The spot will be open next spring.
Jack of Cups opens all-day breakfast spot
The team behind Folly Beach's Jack of Cups Saloon opened Trading Post, bringing all-day breakfast and their globally inspired menu to a James Island café format. The counter-service spot at 915 Folly Rd. serves buttermilk biscuits, an "All Day Breakfast Situation" with eggs and whipped potatoes, plus familiar Jack of Cups items like bulgogi cheesesteak and Thai ginger peanut soup. Currently open 8 a.m.–3 p.m., hours will extend to 8 p.m. once their beer and wine permit is approved.
Paris Baguette to open soon in Mount Pleasant
International bakery and café franchise Paris Baguette is coming to the Belle Hall Shopping Center in Mount Pleasant. The store will open at 656-G Long Point Road and serve pastries, cakes, breads, coffee, sandwiches and other French-inspired items.
Annie Mae’s Bakeshop to open in Charleston
The bakery, set to open in December at 185 Saint Philip Street, will specialize in Southern savory and sweet treats. The new establishment is owned by Annie and Jason Vieira, who have been selling breads and desserts in a commissary kitchen to Charleston restaurants for the last ~2 years.
Sushi | Bar to open in Charleston
Sushi | Bar, an Omakase sushi bar backed by a 2-star Michelin chef, will open at 158 Church St with 12 seats. Sushi | Bar Charleston will be the group’s sixth location, with outposts operating in Miami, Nashville, Austin, Dallas; and Hermosa Beach. Reservations open on the 1st of every month.
Somm opens in Nexton
The wine bar is expanding from Johns Island to Summerville with a new location at 420 Cross Park Lane. The new space is double the size of the original location and features a spacious outdoor patio.
Herd Provisions is closing
Charleston restaurant and butcher shop announced that it will close after nearly seven years in business. The last day of service will be November 29th.

The Select is closing
The restaurant will close down 16 months after it opened inside Greystar's corporate headquarters at 465 Meeting St. The Select specialized in modern American food with a French and Latin accent.

Fuji on King Street closes
After 7 years, Fuji Sushi Bar & Grill at 585 King Street has permanently closed following lease issues. The restaurant is exploring opportunities to relocate and bring Fuji back to downtown the Charleston area in the future. The restaurant has 4 other locations in Mount Pleasant, Nexton, and Kiawah Island.
Mazal is opening tomorrow
The Israeli restaurant located at 1901 Ashley River Road will open its doors at 11 AM on Monday November 3rd. Some of the menu items include falafel, hummus, and shawarma.
Mi Xao @ Munkle
Charleston brewery Munkle Brewing Company announced a partnership with Mount Pleasant restaurant Mi Xao. After doing several pop-ups, brewery guests will now be able to enjoy Vietnamese food Tuesday through Saturday every week.
Odd Duck Market is coming to Summerville
After sharing plans for a second location in downtown Charleston, the cafe and retail market based in Park Circle is announcing a third location at 117 S Cedar Street inside an 1873 Victorian home.
Barnyard Chicken is closing
The North Charleston chicken spot is closing a little more than a year after opening. The last day of operation will be Nov. 1.
Shokudô to open on Oct. 30
The Japanese restaurant from the hospitality group behind O-Ku, Oak Steakhouse and Indaco, will open to the public next Thursday. The restaurant is located at 479 King Street.
New Indian restaurant coming soon
The owners of Taste of India in West Ashley are opening Curry Palace in the recently closed La Bonne Franquette space at 652 St Andrews Blvd. The owners hope to open the new spot at the end of next month.
Papi’s Taqueria is closing
After 8 years at Isle of Palms, Papi’s Taqueria featuring Cachitas Kitchen announced it will be closing its doors. The last day of operation will be Sunday, November 2, 2025.
Saltwater Cowboys launches The Wagon
The Mount Pleasant restaurant is introducing The Wagon, a food truck that will serve menu items in a grab-and-go setting. The Wagon will be permanently parked in the restaurant's Shem Creek lot at 130 Mill St. The truck will be open daily from 11 AM and orders can be placed here or through Uber Eats, Grubhub and Door Dash.
